It started with listening to one horse.

Based in the Netherlands, MD Equestrians was founded in 2021 by Marloes, who was just 21 years old at the time. The idea for the business came from her own horse, Diego, and her search for a different way of working together.

When Marloes first started exploring bitless riding with Diego around 2016, she noticed a wonderful and very positive change in his behaviour. He seemed more relaxed, more comfortable and more willing to work. It was a small change that made a big impression — and it made her want to explore what else was possible when you really listened to your horse.

At the time, there were still relatively few bitless options available. Marloes was looking for something that combined everything she wanted: comfort for the horse, a secure and well-fitting design, practicality and beautiful looks.

She wanted a bitless bridle that looked just as special as a traditional bridle with a bit — not something that felt like a compromise.

But she couldn't find it.

So Marloes had to try and create it herself.

From an idea to MD Equestrians

What started as a personal search for the right bridle slowly grew into something much bigger.

Marloes began designing bitless bridles with the idea that choosing a different way of working with your horse shouldn't mean compromising on appearance, comfort or quality.

Every detail has a purpose. We want our bridles to sit securely without constantly shifting, to offer a comfortable fit for the horse, and to be practical for everyday use — while still having the beautiful, elegant look that makes you excited to put them on your horse.

And just as importantly, we want them to be accessible.

We believe that good design and thoughtful products shouldn't have to come with an unreasonable price tag. That's why we strive to offer comfort, quality and beautiful design at a fair price.

A family-run business in the Netherlands

The business is now run by Marloes and her mum, right here in the Netherlands, making MD Equestrians a true family-run business.

From the very beginning, the brand has been built around a genuine love for horses and a desire to find better ways of understanding and working with them. Having her mum alongside her has allowed MD Equestrians to grow while keeping that personal feeling at the heart of the business.

For those who believe there is more than one way

MD Equestrians is for horse people who are open to exploring alternative ways of working with their horses.

Whether you are completely new to bitless riding and natural horsemanship, or simply want to add something different to your current training, we believe there is value in having options — and in paying attention to what your horse is telling you.

We don't believe there is only one right way to work with a horse.

Every horse is different. Every partnership is different. And sometimes, finding what works best means being willing to try something new.

More than just tack

MD Equestrians started with bitless bridles, but our vision has grown beyond them.

Today, we are expanding into bareback pads and other natural horsemanship products, belts for riders and non riders, always with the same philosophy: horse comfort first, thoughtful design, and beautiful products at a fair price.

Because for us, it's not about following a trend or telling you how you should work with your horse.

It's about creating options.
